Yale & Towne Mfg. Co,, Stamford, Connecticut
Two Yale polished brass cylinders with two flat steel
working
keys
and
one guard key and a 2"h x 3 1/8"w
black japanned iron lock mounted on a
4 1/2"w x 61/2"h
nicely patinaed wooden display with a
3" deep base.
The lock is a Yale safe deposit lock,
#3303.
There is also a small Yale & Towne round plate with the
trade mark trefoil or clover design with Y & T in the center
mounted above the cylinders. There is a Yale &
Towne
paper label on the bottom of the display with 3303 written
on it.
The last picture is from a 1896 Yale bank Lock catalog.
To unlock, the key for the cylinder on the right must be
turned a half to the right first
it stops
.
Then the key for the
left
hand cylinder can be turned to the right
until the bolt is
drawn in. To lock, turn the key in the
left hand cylinder back
to the left .
The display is in very good condition. There are some scratches and nicks to the wood mounting display. The wood has a nice, aged patina. Each key operates easily and the bolt snaps open. There is some tarnish on the cylinders and on the Yale trefoil design disk. There is some paint loss on the black japanned lock body. The paper label attached tot the bottom is dirty and has a torn corner. Two of the keys have rusty heads and one key has rust throughout. Please check the pictures for more condition details.
