Vintage Large 10" Dala Rooster Nils Olsson Original Sticker. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
The wooden roosters are not as old as the Dala horses but their history goes back at least to 1760. During the late 1880s they become more popular. Roosters are painted in the same Curbits style and tradition as the horses.
The rooster is a Christian symbol unlike the pagan horse - a fact that can be seen in most Swedish Churches; they hold the place of honour as weathervanes in the bell towers. The rooster is a Guardian against evil in the night, Protector of Virtues and Purity and Herald to the rising sun. Older wooden roosters are very rare since the numbers produced was much smaller than horses.
Original Nils Olsson Dala rooster stands 10" in his glorious hand painted colors! Original sticker is in perfect condition! Couple of the tiniest flea bites of paint loss on his crop & the bottom of the foot. New this size sells for over 0! Excellent condition!!

Scrapes and scuffs are normal with age. Age is unknown. Appears new. Above noted flea bites of paint loss in expected places are pictured. Please refer to all pictures. I will gladly answer all questions.
