Some of the early SIG guide rods were solid, more recent production is the lightweight, hollow version.  The weight on the front of the pistol helps recoil or muzzle lift, thereby increasing your ability to get on target quicker.  Wil it make you a pro, no. However with proper training, tuning with loads, recoil springs and having a pistol build for competitive shooting it all helps towards accuracy.  The NDZ SST guide rods are manufactured from solid Stainless Steel.
