Original Vintage Cognac Jacquet Advertising Print

This is an authentic original copy of the famous "Cognac Jacquet" advertising poster from French posterist Camille Bouchet (1799-1890
).  It was printed in Paris in the mid-1920s by the renowned printhouse of Pierre Vercasson.
Vercasson was one of the first to recognize that posters should catch the eye of the motorist as well as the pedestrian. Bold and striking colors against deep dark backgrounds create instant impact and serve the goal.
In this period, the printers would act as an agent for artists and commission work to them.  Vercasson wanted the posters that he produced to stand out from the rest and attract lucrative new advertisers to his agency.
The poster is
46 inches x 62 inches.
The original print has been professionally linen backed.  There is one small tear, approximately 4 inches, which has been professionally repaired.  (See photos 6 (front) and 7 (rear).)  This minor imperfection is not visible at a normal viewing distance and will only be noticed upon a purposeful inspection to find it.
Shipping will be protected with acid-free paper, loosely rolled in an over-sized crush-proof tube.  Shipping will be insured and trackable.
