Founded in 1799 by Edward Tann, the English firm of John Tann is the world's oldest manufacturer of safes, and notable maker of strong-room doors.
This painted cast iron medallion, with the word 'Reliance' across an anchor bordered by 'John Tann's Door, 117 Newgate St. London'; is mounted on a dark green painted and shaped wood plaque.
Provenance: Item from an estate sale and was previously purchased by collector from an antique shop in London during the mid 1970s.
Good condition: noting some typical wear and rub marks, etc. to wood as pictured.
Overall dimensions: Height 19-3/8" X Width 14-1/2" X Weight 6#, with 4 mounting bolt holes.
