Description

This good quality vintage linen towel was made at Tampella Textiles in Finland. Pirkko Ropponen drew the design which has all essential Lapland images in it: Colorful embroidery border, reindeer herder in traditional clothing, reindeer against the snowy mountain, topped with Winter sky. Man's felt hat is the four-pointed "cap of four winds". Towel is in good condition for its age. People used to tack these on a wall for decoration and the old-time thumb tacks inevitably left these little rust marks - at least that's what they look like to me. Edge seams show a few spots of wear. Hanging loop in top left corner.
