Description
Original bright canary yellow iron & tin safe bank with boy & dog on front & angel on the top. This is the rare early version with original yellow paint. This version has the cast iron combination dial & the cast iron interior rotating wheel for the dial mechanism. This canary yellow version with the iron dial & iron rotating wheel was produced by the Gray Iron Company of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania circa 1910-1925.The Gray Iron Co. sold many of its patterns to the John Wright Co. of Wrightsville, Pa. In 1969 the John Wright Co. began producing a later version of this bank which was in black & gold which had a die cast dial. The later version which dates from 1969 & later (made by John Wright) is extremely common whereas this early version in yellow (made by Gray Iron Co.) from circa 1910-1925 which we are offering is rare.
Most of the original yellow paint is present. There is only minor wear & a couple of bends to the back of the tin. There are no chips, no cracks, & no repairs. An original factory string is present wrapped around the dial. This string would have originally held a paper tag with the bank combination on it. The paper tag is not present. The bank measures 3 15/16 inches tall by 2 5/8 inches across the front by 2 11/16 inches deep. The weight is 11.9 ounces.
