    Welcome! For your consideration: An 1888A Prussia, German States 5 Mark, strong details with dark patina and surface issues
    . 1888 is known as "The Year of Three Emperors" as King Frederick III ascended to the throne in March, dying in June of the same year from cancer. His father, Wilhelm I, was 90 at passing and Frederick III's son, Wilhelm II, succeeded him and reigned through WWI. It is 38mm in diameter, .900 fine Silver with .8037 ounce ASW. Just 200,000 coins were minted in Berlin. There is some staining from tape on the obverse and some patterned marks and scratches on the reverse.
